Over 53% of retail stock trades are expected to be executed online by 2004. In this environment, only web-savvy and web-centric broker/dealers can expect to survive. This course provides the background information needed to segue from the old trading environment to one that is compliant with the new standards, security measures and operating procedures in an STP, T+1 environment. Participants will evaluate XML as a means of facilitating STP and T+1, pinpoint the role of XML in electronic workflow, and consider XML as a tool for integrating legacy systems and new systems. The class will compare FIXML, FinXML, FpML, DNAfs and other new protocols as they apply to trading equities, derivatives, and foreign exchange. Vendors of outsourced solutions will be reviewed in the context of solving workflow problems in the emerging STP environment.
