This course is intended for those individuals who have little or no background in the accounting requirements for multi-currency portfolios. It provides a broad understanding of the issues involved in the accounting and reporting of global securities and foreign cash balances.
Various methodologies will be presented to calculate cost basis and market valuations in both Local and Base currencies, taking into account the appropriate FX rates that are required. Realized and unrealized gain/loss calculations will be reviewed along with the market standards for bifurcation of the gain/loss.
The course will also touch upon system considerations in developing multi-currency, global accounting capabilities with flexible accounting options that can satisfy changing client requirements.
