Corporate Actions 2009: Improving Issuer-Investor Communication Reducing risk and cost through data and technology standards Presented by Securities Operations Forum and XBRL US, in association with DTCC and SWIFT.
Westin Hotel at Times Square, 270 West 43rd Street New York, NY, 10036 US
May 28, 2009
Corporate actions announcements can be the most important information delivered to investors. But today's paper-driven process for initiating and disseminating corporate actions data is time-consuming, error-prone and costly. Information passes from the issuer to multiple organizations around the world that rely on having correct information - including stock exchanges, central securities depositories, custodians, broker dealers and asset managers - yet these entities have to manually enter the data by hand, increasing the risk of inaccuracy.
Securities Operations Forum and XBRL US, the U.S. national standard setter for XML reporting have joined forces with key players in the corporate actions process, including the Depository Trust Clearing Corporation (DTCC) and SWIFT (the global ISO registration authority for securities messages) to present Corporate Actions 2009, which will investigate ways to improve the communication process by using data and technology standards to convey important corporate action announcement information to investors.
Keynote speakers include:
* Donald F. Donahue, Chairman and CEO of The Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC)
* Alfred R. Berkeley, Chairman, Pipeline Financial Systems LLC
* David Blaszkowsky, Director, Office of Interactive Disclosure, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
* Jeffrey Morgan, President and CEO, National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI)
* Jamie Shay, Head of Standards, SWIFT
